Consumer Mediation Unit

About the Unit

The Consumer Mediation Unit (CMU) is responsible for multiple programs to support Delaware Consumers and homeowners.  It houses the Office of Foreclosure Prevention and Financial Education, the Mandatory Residential Foreclosure Mediation program, the Office of the Common Interest Community Ombudsperson, and the Office of the Manufactured Housing Ombudsperson.   In addition, the CMU engages in consumer advocacy and educates the public through consumer outreach education events.

One of the CMU’s important functions is helping consumers resolve problems with businesses. We operate a free telephone hotline where consumers can get information, discuss problems and make complaints. Our Complaint Form is available online.

Working in partnership with the other units in the Fraud and Consumer Protection Division, the CMU provides the citizens of Delaware with information necessary to avoid become victims of consumer fraud and education on various topics relevant to consumers.  Brochures and other information are available by mail and online.  In addition, we participate in seminars, presentations, and other consumer events.  If you would like to have a member of the CMU speak to your group or organization, please call us at (302) 683-8800.
