Wilmington – Attorney General Beau Biden announced that a Newark man has been arrested on child pornography charges following an investigation by the Delaware Child Predator Task Force.
On Thursday, May 31, members of the Task Force along with Delaware State Police Troopers from Troop #6 executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 100 block of Richard’s Lane in Newark. The case was referred to Delaware authorities by the Pennsylvania Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force which had identified a Delaware internet user suspected of illegal activity during an online undercover investigation. Delaware Child Predator Task Force personnel continued the investigation and obtained a search warrant for the Newark location. As a result of the on-scene investigation, a computer and other digital media were seized and a person of interest was identified and taken to Delaware State Police Troop #2 for further questioning. An initial forensic preview of the equipment seized revealed numerous video files of child pornography.
As a result of the investigation, detectives arrested Sebastian M. Burleigh, age 20, a resident of the Richard’s Lane address. Burleigh was charged with 25 counts of dealing in child pornography. He was arraigned by video phone at Justice of the Peace Court #2 and was ordered committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $250,000 secured bail, where he remains held.
“The threats from predators don’t stop at state lines,” Attorney General Biden said. “That’s why the Child Predator Task Force works closely with our law enforcement partners from across the country to cast the widest net possible to keep kids safe, and to track down offenders, no matter where they are.
The investigation by the Child Predator Task Force is ongoing.
